On Track…again, I think

September 6, 2007

And we’re off once again to a rolling start.

Blithely putting it, I mean, after numerous calls to exasperated and irritated agents, aloof and brow-raising Airlines Companies and a certain accompanying friend, I am pleased to announce that the air tickets are finally in hand. Paid for it today, and felt as light, and happy as helium as I walked out the street, impulsively doing things I would normally never do, such as saluting a man with weird hair on the way and laughing at his astonished expression.

The ticket boom (and prices) this year shocked me greatly. The papers have not been helping, publishing articles warning of the dire straits year-end travellers would face, seeing how tickets were already selling out like hot-cakes. Indeed, the itinerary I wanted the most on Turkish Airlines kept me on the waiting list for the longest time. No return-leg available – but I surmised, that doesn’t sound like too bad an idea, really.

Until I took things in my own hands and managed to find the tickets online by a sliver of a margin on a higher booking class. Today.

Previously, it was going on Economy, and returning on Business. Didn’t sound too bad a deal, until I realised that the prices (in Euros) have not yet been converted and are naturally heart-squeezing when put through the banker’s roll.

Itinerary this time around:
Milan – Florence – Venice – Ljubljana – Bled – Istanbul

Sounds ambitious already.
